After Dream kills another dragon, however, he’s about to start his newest manhunt, when he and his friends find a mysterious portal. After entering it, Dream and the hunters find themselves in another world, this one with far less forgiving laws of life and death. What will happen when they realize that they aren’t the only versions of them in existence, and their alternates may not be quite as good of people as they are?

Summary
It was surprisingly hard to keep a vigilante presence off the radar.
Somehow, it was when Tommy was using his identity that could literally turn invisible, that he’d been almost immediately clocked by the heroes. He’d really only been just starting to have a presence when the heroes cornered him about it. Surprisingly, instead of attempting arrest, they’d recruited him. And who was he to say no to free access to the hero database and nice bathrooms?
One power per secret identity, that was his rule, and he still had a couple more up his sleeve. The heroes could have one. As a treat. He was generous like that. He’d just take more care to keep his other identities off the radar.
Simple.
If only things worked out as planned. Somehow, it hadn’t taken long for his next vigilante persona to be noticed as well, though not by heroes this time.
“I hear you talk to ghosts.” Said a deadpan voice.--
Tommy can't help wanting to help, and he keeps getting powers so why not have more than one secret identity, yeah? Hero, vigilante, villain, coffee barista, and maybe one other.
Or I read so, so many vigilante fics that I caved in and stuffed all of my ideas into one fic.

Pain.
He knew it well, felt it many times in his lifetime. Tommy knew how it sparked through his limbs, crackling through his blood as he writhed on the floor of a warehouse, or a training mat, yelling and cries around him piercing his ears.
It was like a friend to him, maybe his first. And only.
But…pain wasn’t like this.
Tommy drew himself up from where he was in a pool of his own blood, a pained whine escaping his cracked and bloody lips as he coughed. Shadows ate away at the walls of the alley around him, remnants of his power staying even after he had exhausted all of it. That much was evident in the blackness creeping up his arms, numerous scars disappearing beneath the tendrils. Fuck. He didn’t have much time. Pressing the panic button under his suit for the sixth time that night, he drew his bloodied fists up in front of him, gritting his teeth. Just a bit more… then Wilbur will come. He always does. He’ll save Tommy, he won’t leave him again.
Will he?

Punz stared at him. Dream’s body was shaking like a leaf in a storm. Barely able to hold himself up without armor.
Dream leaned against a pine and snapped, “I don’t need your stupid, fucking pity.”
“All right.” Punz sighed and turned away in defeat. Veering off into the woods, his leather boots left no tracks in the snow. Dream silently debated whether sending the mercenary away was the right call. It’s not like Dream can fight in his current condition. One month out of prison, and he still has trouble.

“That’s not how puppet magic works, Ranboo.” Dream shook his head. If it were so simple, he wouldn’t have to worry about Punz. “Once someone’s string is cut, it remains on the person. It can still be used. The only way to be free is to be unraveled from it.”
“Really?” Ranboo mumbled, pulling his gloves further onto his arms, “Then how do you get, erm… unraveled?”
