Mike wheeler is a normal boy from Hawkins indiana. Decent grades, short kid, big personality. With a certain set of events that unfolded he meets will. A shy, quiet artistic boy coming from what's bottom-of-the-barrel but yet they still get by - and its a whole lot less toxicly than Mike's family.
The boys begin their journey's and stick together through thick and thin.
So when will's sister gets lodged in the way of the two will and mike can't help but notice that their "affinities" towards eachother may not be entirely platonic.
They both take two very different paths in this knowledge, Mike's routed in heavy denial and will's in a soft cynical understanding of the time and place he's living in.
Can they accept themselves for who they are? Or do they become disillusioned with the lies that they keep telling themselves.

Summary
Mike and Will are inseparable; it’s their last year of high school, and everything feels right where it belongs. Will spends most of his time helping Mike with The Weekly Streak newspaper. Mike spends a lot of his time trying to figure out how he’s going to meet the upcoming deadline for his big Valentine’s issue.
Their perfect world starts to fall apart when an unexpected basketball season whisks Will onto the court and into the surprising arms of Chance. Mike hates seeing this new development play out right in front of him. He’s a lot more helpless than he’d like to be. More than he’d like to admit, he’s foolishly jealous.
Mike lost Will once, but is he willing to lose him again to Chance?

"Mike scooted a little closer and patted him on the back, then left his hand there, even after Will had recovered. They were close now, so close that Will could see the tooth marks embedded from where Mike had been worrying his lips. It was a nervous habit that he’d had since they were kids. Not that Will’s gaze was lingering on Mike’s lips or anything. He was just looking like, a normal, friendly amount.

Mike's eye twitches at the audacity, "Christmas sucks, its the worst holiday by far. You spend months stressing out trying to find gifts for people that range from meaningless trinkets to expensive nonsense. I, at the very least, spend at least a month at my mom's beck and call, constantly cleaning, and wasting at least four days of my life every year unpacking and then repacking shitty decorations into even shittier styrofoam, half of which we don't even USE. And to top it all off we have to dress up and host a bunch of annoying relatives."
"Well, I guess you don't have to worry about that last bit this year." Dustin mutters.
"That is true, thank you Dustin, I feel a so much better about the inevitability of Christmas now!"
After a beat Will murmurs, "I think I really like Christmas."
Mike almost runs his bike off the road as Lucas laughs.
"Dude you don't even celebrate Christmas."
