Viggo Grimborn was a broken man. His entire life, he was taught that dragons were something to be hunted, creatures to be culled. He was taught to never trust anyone, everyone lies. He was taught to never get attached, that love was weakness. He was ok with being the villain. His grandfather taught him well.
He lived by these rules for so long, that when a hero came and wrecked every single one of them, what could he do but fall?
The least he could do is die protecting the one he loved. He was destined to have a tragic end.
And yet, Hiccup saw fit to break that rule too.
(Viggo survives the events of Triple Cross. This changes everything.)

Summary
HTTYD Villains Ship Week Day 5: Venom
He was cold, the warmth of the purple haze fading alongside the all important words, giving way to clarity and pain, and little by little, he realized where he was, his eyes blinking sluggishly down at the leather in his hands.
The room swayed lightly, small crates and cages-cages? sliding a bit along the wooden floor, screeching unpleasantly with each movement, though none were where he was. He focused on what was in his hands, in his bloody hands. He watched as it crumbled, falling to the floor and on the leather in small rusty flakes.
Where-where did blood come from? Where was he?

Hiccup wakes up cold and alone in a dark room, disoriented and afraid. He knew something was wrong. The feeling grew stronger with every breath. And soon he will find out why, and what he has done under the influence of another's command, controlled by the venom flowing through his veins.
