    "It's Spoiler or the detonator, Batman. Your choice."

    When thrust into the situation where she's forced to face off against a huge threat to Gotham City by herself, Stephanie tries to take it in stride. It's now up to Spoiler to save Gotham, the city that hasn't been too kind to her from an early age, and seemingly continues to try to break her down. Regardless, she'll never stop trying to succeed.

    It also begs the question, what happens after trust like that is broken?

     A lot of Angst and a lot of Hurt/Comfort.

    “Oh, so this is my fault?”

    “You wanted to be in charge,” Superboy said. Robin couldn’t see him from behind but he could certainly hear the shrug in his voice. Maybe that’s an exercise for him, trying to see how many times he can shrug “nonchalantly” in a day. Maybe he was hoping his shoulders would fill out more from the movement and he would be able to match up to Superman's one day.

    The thought made Robin snicker to himself as he retorted with an eyeroll, “I’m not the ‘one-in-charge’ I’m the ‘one-who’s-supposed-to-be-here.’”

    “Do you roll your eyes so much to make them stronger?” Superboy asked, “So you can find clues as easy as the big bat one day?”

    In a world where Young Justice takes a bit longer to form the young heroes find themselves falling together while having a few more years' experience under their belt. They didn't set out to form a team and Robin certainly didn't anticipate how deeply he would grow to trust his friends. Superboy, although annoying, was quickly becoming one of the most important people in Tim's life. Robin was used to being prepared for anything (to an extent which could be called paranoid), but Superboy was beginning to make him reckless.

    Batman has potentially the most famous rogue's galleries in comics- Joker, Riddler, Two-Face, and so many others... but this story isn't about Batman and his villains- this story is about loveable underdog, Stephanie Brown (don't fact check the loveable part, just trust me) and between her Spoiler days, brief stint as Robin, and her (so far) shockingly successful time as Batgirl, she's developed her own reoccurring villains! Such as gravity, an awkward relationship with the Wayne family, and of course- the consequences of her own actions!

    How long can our heroine completely ignore her past and any lasting impacts it may have left on her mental health? If you ask her, she'd say forever! (She's an optimist now.)

    Authors Note: Look! I made a real summary; it only took me 29 chapters to do it :)

Thus begins Stephanie's slow journey of healing, of recovery, of confronting her trauma and despair, and of finding out who she is in the ruins of it all. Trying to rebuild her relationships and reconnect with the people she loves.

    And as those loved ones face their own struggles--from sudden deaths to mysterious returns-- Stephanie being around changes things quite a bit...

    Updated with chapter 13! Dinah Lance visits Steph and talk gets intense. Excerpt:

    "Stephanie, I know you’ve been through a lot lately," Dinah said carefully. "I want to offer you a listening ear if you need one. I know how alone you can feel after something like this.” A shadow seemed to pass over Dinah's face. “And I thought maybe it would help you to talk to someone who understands.”

    Stephanie Brown may not have haled from a circus, or attended galas since she could walk, but she was a performer nonetheless. She’d smile with her blessedly straight teeth, maintain eye contact in a way that gives the appearance of rapt attention given. For years, since Stephanie could remember, the facade worked. No one batted an eye at the girl with blinding light inside her.

    Only, that light inside of her wasn’t happiness or unbridled innocence; it was righteous anger, and a downright obsession with currently unfounded justice. And the family is catching on. Stephanie may not transform the light inside her into something good, but maybe, just maybe, the light won’t diminish entirely by the end of it all.
