Upon meeting and claiming his new sister, he makes a plan. There was a joke at Camp Half-Blood that if Cassandra of Troy met Odysseus of Ithaca, her prophecies would have been heeded as the warnings they were. If Percy was in the past for a bit, he may as well come home with an answer as to whether or not the loophole would have worked. That, and now he's committed to keeping all of Odysseus' crew alive to see their homes and families again.
