Summary
The core of the problem was, they were too few. Two hundred, maybe three came back with him, and there was those who had not left at all, another hundred, maybe.
Tirion may have been small at a time, but now it was built for at least a dozen hundreds of them. They were just too few.

Summary
His eyes can’t leave the dark horizon where he can almost imagine light. He hears cries, metal screeching against metal, and he covers his ears, but it doens’t make it stop. He closes his eyes, stumbling back, but all he can see is devouring fire and an enormous eye of evil gold staring, and ash, ash everywhere. He can almost feel it in his lungs.

"Gather your strength, Daeron. I will get you to the Ford of Bruinen.”
“Will you swear it, kinslayer?” Daeron asked, voice heavy with irony and with something else Maglor couldn’t quite identify.
He paused for a moment. Then he said, “Yes.”Bookmarked by the_world_was_fey

Summary
Time passes, and Elves fade. It is one of the laws of their kind, that even gold cannot stay.
For May, growing up in Valleynor-That-Was, the Faded Ones are a fact of life. He has no particular feelings about them, except that sometimes they're a real hassle (you can't just move them if you want to build something, after all) and he certainly doesn't want to be one, not yet.
But one day he finds a Faded One tucked away, and he thinks: fated one.
