The Ministry is not at all kind (why would they be), his professors seem to both loathe and pity him, he's anxious all the time, and Harry Potter will always be a thorn in his side. Even if Potter is pretty okay at tutoring. Honestly, Harry is just trying to not make things worse.
A story of PTSD, recovery, and redemption, with a touch of dark magic and curses.

“Harry!” He looked back to see his mentor’s face, pale underneath the streaks of blood and ash that covered it. His golden eyes were wide as they locked on Harry, seeming almost nervous.
“There’s no time!” Draco called out, grabbing his hand and pulling Harry towards the massive turner that would take them (hopefully) back twenty years into the past.
“Forgive us!” Remus called, raising his voice now over the building hum of the time turner, carrying a note of desperation. “He always meant to tell you. But then he was gone and it didn’t seem my place.”
“What–” Harry began, but then the power of the turner coursed through him, through his arm where Draco held him and he felt himself get dragged backwards into the vortex. The last thing he saw before his world went dark was the pleading in Remus’ eyes.
“Forgive us.”

The door opens and the light from the hall pours through, illuminating a silhouette. Regulus feels the air freeze in his lungs as he tracks his gaze frantically over rumpled brown hair and wide eyes.
“James!? What are you doing here?” His voice comes out a croak, cracked and an octave too low. Hesitantly he steps closer only to find himself twisted backwards and slammed violently against the wall.
“I’m not James.” The boy says roughly, his green eyes flashing as he jabs his wand directly into Regulus’s neck. “James is dead.”
Warning: this is an ABANDONED fic. My sister died and I took a break from writing and now this piece is not calling to me. There’s a 2% chance I could return to it but I don’t want anyone counting on it at all. I know how frustrating it is when fics are unfinished so I am sorry about this.
