Jaskier had tried this time; Really he had.
First, he'd gathered together a number of candles to decorate the space, giving it a romantic--but hopefully not overwhelmingly bright--atmosphere. A bath was drawn up and kept warm with application of steaming water from the kitchens. He'd made sure the bed was done up nice with soft sheets, to soothe Geralt's skin--even if he claimed it wasn't sensitive. Also, Jaskier had finally, finally found a good combination of scents for the oils, and had prepared those accordingly. Jaskier had even gotten a little selection of berries for Geralt to munch on while he massaged.
All in all, Jaskier had been ready to pamper Geralt after a long day's work of cleaning up some simple drowners.
Then Geralt had pushed the door open, filthy and bleeding.

Except he wasn't there. He was making his way back to Kaer Morhen, several days ahead of Jaskier by now.
