This is a world building segment in the series which discusses the history and organization of the 9th Stargate Regiment (9th SGR), created by the USAF after the completion of Stargate Universe series and current as we enter the time frame of the upcoming untitled Stargate series.
The organization and employment of the SG teams by the SGC was always ad hoc and there was a recognition the SG teams needed to be developed into a separate unit from the SGC. From that effort, the 9th SGR was born.
This piece explains the history of the development of the unit, the current organization of the unit and its chain of command under the USAF and now USSF. It includes details on the personnel assigned, the selection process to join the unit, and the operational cycle of the various battalions. Last it includes a discussion of current operations and battle and campaign honors.
