Alastor huffed, leaning forward, voice rising with that familiar theatrically sharp edge. “Do you think I am amused? That this this deliberate avoidance would go unnoticed? That your petty games, your careful withdrawal, would not rattle me, gnaw at my patience?!” He gestured wildly, as though the air itself had been complicit in Vox’s crimes. “I am not accustomed to being ignored! Not by anyone! Certainly not by you!”
A pause. Vox leaned forward, elbows resting on his desk now, fingers tapping in silent rhythm. And then words. Complete sentences. Complete thoughts.
“I’ve lost myself in you for too long,” Vox said, and Alastor’s breath caught slightly at the weight behind the voice. “I’ve missed out on so many friendships, so much love. I don’t blame you. I did it to myself, really falling for the Radio Demon’s trap. You’re an enigma. It’s not your fault. It’s your nature.”
The words landed like blunt instruments against Alastor’s carefully constructed armour. He froze, cane halfway lifted, mouth opening and closing like a puppet caught mid performance.

"Mon lapin, why are you running, huh? We can talk about this."
Vincent has made a mistake. A big mistake. He's running as fast as he can, still holding onto that tiny hope that maybe maybe he can escape. Maybe, just maybe, Alastor will let him go.
A black tendril curls around his leg and pulls. Vincent panics as he falls— only to have large clawed hands wrap swiftly around his waist, he's pulled back with effortless strength and spun back into Alastor's arms. Vincent is pressed into a broad chest, he can faintly feel vermilion claws graze his hips almost warningly.
"You know all I do is to protect you."
In which, Vox takes the hit for Alastor during his battle with Adam and dies. Consumed by madness and the realization that he did care for Vox, Alastor follows him into death—only to awaken decades earlier, at the exact moment Vox first falls into Hell as a new sinner. Armed with the knowledge of everything that will come to pass, Alastor seizes the chance to take the newly fallen Vox under his wing… and change their future.

Alastor’s face brightened and Vox disappeared in a flash of lightning, reappearing in front of Husk to snatch his cup from the tray.
“Oh, and it’s from that place I like,” he said appreciatively and took a sip. A funny expression crossed his face. “You remembered how I take my coffee?”
Husk frowned. This felt like a trap of some sort, but he nodded anyways. “Yeah, two creams, four extra shots of espresso.”
“An abomination of a beverage,” Alastor huffed, taking his own coffee (black, like his fucking cold dead heart).

Velvette’s floor. A broach has been pushed off of the desk harsh enough to leave an angry white line on its glossy surface. A dress is wrinkled, drenched in sinner blood, and it’s sure to smell if its left to rot. That’s the logical thing to think. Velvette’s knee is crooked slightly, letting weight fall on one hip, and her phone’s an empty face on the floor. She’s scared, he presumes. That’s the logical thing to think.
A camera pivot. Valentino is like a body chalked up on a sidewalk. His left wing twitches, and his antenna curls. He’s alive. That’s the logical thing to think.
Vox enters the room.

Alastor had thought Velvette might be exaggerating when she'd said she had a four armed straitjacket in storage. It wouldn't be unusual, for her, to add a little bit of unnecessary hyperbole into her phrasing.
It was all he could do not to burst into delighted laughter when he followed Vox into what looked like an incredibly luxurious living area, only to see Valentino trussed up on the couch, his glasses askew and his antennae drooping pitifully over his head as Velvette stood at the window, seething, her arms crossed over her chest.
