Summary
Castiel is a lighthouse keeper in the middle of the ocean, a solitary life he has chosen. What he didn't expect was to find a man washed up on the beach at the foot of the lighthouse, wounded and unconscious. That man, a sailor named Dean, not accustomed to life on earth, but rather to freedom of a life on the sea, will have to stay and live with that strange lighthouse keeper used to loneliness until the supply boat comes.
They'll have to live together, with all their differences and similarities. A daily challenge that will become less and less difficult as the days go by, but other difficulties and questions will surface. -

It almost killed him, If it had just been his life on the line he couldn’t have left Cas back there–hell, if it had just been him and Benny they’d still be there. They weren’t leaving without the angel; Benny knew that, he agreed to it. But it wasn’t just them Dean needed to get out.
He resurrected him in Louisiana. From there they hauled themselves 2.5 thousand miles northwest to a grove of trees about thirty minutes out from Seattle. The tree he’d buried her under was gnarled and ancient and green with moss probably older than him. The initials he’d carved were still a fresh wound in the bark at its base.

Castiel wrongly assumes Dean is a homophobe. Dean wrongly assumes Castiel couldn't possibly find him interesting.

Dean doesn't think about it. Not about what it means, not about what it makes them, not about how it affects him. This life—that's not how things work. It's just this, these "in the moment" moments that always slip right out of his fingers because he lets them. He doesn't try to hold onto them, and neither does Cas, and maybe they shouldn't.
Cas kisses him like no one else does, like no one else ever has. Dean absolutely does not think about it unless it's happening to him, and then he doesn't have the ability to think at all. What does it say about him that he occasionally kisses his best friend, who's a man? Dean doesn't know, and he doesn't really want to find out, either.
