There was a time when Zuko truly believed that he would never be happy. When capturing the Avatar and returning home seemed like an impossible feat. When he was adrift on the ocean or starving in the desert or sweeping the floors of a dank tea shop in the slums of Ba Sing Se. When his face was burned by the same hand that used to gently stroke his head and he was banished from his homeland at thirteen. But, after many agonizing years, he learned how to be happy. He let his friends show him the way. At first, the emotion felt almost foreign, and it startled him. He had been living in fear and anger for so long that he knew no other way to be. But slowly, gently, the light filled him up, seeping into his bones and allowing him to become the ruler his uncle always knew he could be, one who ruled with decisive strength and steadfast compassion.

Summary
After years imprisoned, Princess Azula vanishes into the Forgetful Valley. Fire Lord Zuko sends Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors to bring her back, dead or alive.
Two years of fruitless searching leave Suki haunted by failure, her determination curdling into obsession. When Zuko pulls her from the mission and sends her to Ember Island under the guise of rest, she finds herself adrift. Then she meets Natsumi, a stranger far removed from the war, beautiful and steady in ways Suki no longer feels she deserves.
But the world has not forgotten Azula. Aang begins to dream, danger stirs, and at the center of it all lies the missing princess, waiting to be found.

But much later, when they were sitting in his dorm room, and Johnny was yapping his ear off about some car he had 'rescued' while leaning way too far into his personal space, Peter had to admit. If he had to be stuck with someone for all eternity or whatever, there were worse people to suffer with than Johnny Storm.

Part 1 of the Series “Faded Stars”.
When Zuko was 9, one night he sneaked out of his room to train his dao swordsmanship in secret from his father. What he didn’t expect was to meet an unknown but definitely a Spirit with lots of unstable energy within it — when the Spirit cannot hold back any longer, Zuko can barely do something to defend himself. Zuko through the unstable spiritual energy is transported to a world, where death and suffering are constant companions— where tears and laughter are one and the same. The world of Olathe, slowly approaching its doom.
Around seven years later, Zuko finds himself near the Southern Air Temple — but not alone but with the companions he rescued from the dying world — those are Rando, Buddy and Terry.
Unexpectedly, the trio stumbles upon the Gaang when searching for the supplies.

A Forward by the Scholar Zuyen:
It has been a long upheld truth of our great nation that after the twin falls of the disgraced Fire Lord Ozai and Princess Azula, and their subsequent imprisonments, neither of the two ever regained contact with our well-respected Fire Lord Zuko. While Fire Lord Zuko ensured the humane holding conditions of his estranged father and sister immediately after his ascension to the throne, he reportedly never saw a need to continue communications with them. Before writing this book, my answer to such an obvious statement would have been, "Blasting flames—well of course he didn't!" Now, though, my answer would be quite different. But best leave that til later.
Fire Lord Zuko, when questioned about such matters, only ever gave one answer in response, saying: “A true leader has no need for snakes and scoundrels. Dragons are far superior.”
Given his far more professional reply, it is no wonder that he was the fire lord and I am a less-than-humble scholar.
