She wonders if it's her duty to pass the technique down to the next generation of waterbenders, and wonders if she can turn it into something useful, something gentle.
Still, sometimes she misses it: the challenge, the heat, the thrill of battle. But the world is different now, and she has a family to look after.

After traveling the world for five years, Kya is reunited with her mother at Avatar Aang’s funeral. Katara takes her to the Southern Water Tribe, where she tries to finally heal from years of physical and emotional trauma.
This is a sister piece of sorts with my fic ‘Disenchanted.’ I would certainly recommend reading that one first (it’s only about 12 chapters), but you do you. This one will explore Kya’s perspective on recovering in the SWT with Katara, something briefly referenced in Disenchanted.
