There’s a part of Yelena that is acutely aware that she is not, in fact, okay.
She knows, in the back of her mind, that she has people she can contact, somewhere she can go, steps she can take that are actually forward instead of blindly stumbling laterally at best.
But, an even bigger part of her weighs down on the rest of her mind, bemoaning the effort, shrinking away from the vulnerability and the shame she’d feel crawling back after months of radio silence.
Valentina promised one last job and things will get better.
She just has to make it through one last job.

He should have been forgettable, just background noise in a life of covert operations and empty rooms, but somehow that ridiculous, broken man became the snag in the current.
