And it most definitely was not his fault that he activated an (apparently) dormant quirk by trying to save said childhood friend.

After All Might tells Izuku that he cannot, in fact, be a hero, he tries to follow Kacchan, no, Katsuki’s advice and take a swan dive off the roof of the building. He survives, but everyone thinks he’s dead. The LOV, or more accurately just AFO, Shigaraki, and Kurogiri, take Izuku in and train him to hate the world and become a symbol of fear, and being one of the UA traitors, of course.
I originally wrote this under a different name a while ago, but I’ve changed so much of the order of things and edited stuff out that i just decided to create a new fic.

How do you convince kids who have learnt that the word hero means pain that they’re safe?
Kamino goes differently. No one, not even Nedzu, could have seen Hawks and Todoroki being traitors. Or that a fourteen year old that's on no official system would kill AFO during the fight. Quick thinking on Aizawa's part gets the two youngest League members brought into custody where they are given the opportunity to work for their redemption.
Problem? Neither has any trust in the system that left them and the family they've forged to rot. And Class 1A has no reason to trust the classmate that sold them out or the girl who sees no problems with solving her problems with terror.
Can you really redeem someone who doesn't want to saved? Or will they both disappear again in ashes and spiderwebs?

It isn't easy, and it will probably will never be easy. But Aizawa and Yamada are determined to show Izuku that the world is worth living for, even if others try to convince him to leave it.
My first post of any fanfic, but I've been reading for years. Open to feedback and recommendations, but please go easy on me.

He doesn’t know why, but his gut tells him that things are going to happen whether he wants them to or not. With a sigh, he resigns himself to his fate and starts heading towards the common room of the dorms. Then, he feels the world shift.
Atsushi is out shopping like he always is on Sundays. He and Kyouka need groceries, after all. As he walks through the isles, shopping basket in hand, he bumps into someone. He’s about to apologize, but pauses when he sees that he’s bumped into Akutagawa. Per their usual, the two start bickering, neither of them noticing the world shifting until it’s too late.

Like most things, Izuku didn’t particularly want to start his career as a vigilante. In the same way he didn’t want to go to school every day to quirkist teachers, or how he didn’t want to be the victim of bullying and assault daily, oh, and he especially didn’t want his mom to run off and abandon him.
But, there are laws and there are legalities, and in this day and age in Japan, his quirk status leaves more wiggle room than should be allowed.
vigilantism had a similar situation. The laws stating something along the lines of: ‘a person, or persons, who is caught practicing unauthorized quirk usage for heroic acts, disregarding self-defense, will be prosecuted and may be fined up to-‘. Yeah, yeah, blah blah, the important part there is ‘quirk usage’, and fortunately (or unfortunately) that didn’t apply to Izuku.

Or, an author who’s tired of unrealistic fics where a teenage vigilante is trying to keep too many secrets, and decided to write one for themselves.
