Wings of Fire: Heart of Jade Mountain is an epic coming-of-age saga centered around Buck, a young human boy suffering from trauma relating to the loss of his parents during a dragon attack on his hometown. Harboring a deep hatred of dragons, he is nonetheless forced to enter a wider world of interspecies interaction when he is enrolled against his will into Jade Mountain Academy's first human class of students.
However, unbeknownst to Buck, forces on both the dragon and human side are building, and Buck may very well become the central figure in the battle for the future of Pyrrhia. A savage dragon terrorist, a mysterious being from the Third Moon, and an enigmatic lodgekeeper are some of Buck's encounters on his journey, which will test Buck's bravery and perhaps allow him to move on from his past and embrace a bright new world of human-dragon peace.
As Heart of Jade Mountain is loosely based on the canon Wings of Fire series and is meant to serve as a continuation of it, spoilers for the series will be present, including Legends: Dragonslayer and the latest book as of the time of writing, The Flames of Hope.

Mike’s hand was scorching, his skin slightly rough as he wrapped his fingers firmly around the full, pulsing length of him. The suddenness of the skin-on-skin contact made Will’s eyes roll back. Mike’s grip was certain and possessive, his hand a blur, pulling a sharp, helpless cry from Will’s lungs.
"I’ve wanted this for so long... God, Will, so long," Mike whispered, his voice broken against Will’s skin.
Will’s fingers, trembling and desperate, reached for the metal teeth of Mike’s fly. But as his hand swept across the cushion to steady himself, his fingers hit that small, cold, plastic edge. The white residue inside the plastic caught the light—a jagged, crystalline ghost between them.
"Is this the only way you can touch me, Mike?" Will's voice was a cold, dead whisper. "Is this how you 'stay present'? By getting so high you don't have to feel the shame of wanting me?"
