My name is Malory. I am a student of the magical arts. At the time of this story I was apprenticing under Master Asra, a fortuneteller about the same age as me. We lived above a shop we run together in the center of Vesuvia, bustling sea-side city on cliffs laced with canals… bordered by woods to the north, and fields to the south.
I’d read about other lands outside our city, dealt with their exports in the market, but in my limited memory couldn’t recall ever visiting to see them. I didn’t even like leaving my shop to walk the loud, crowded streets on my own.
Asra at my side usually helped, especially when we first met. I could hold his arm and not have to make sense of the voices around me through my haze of confusion… but he was away for who knows how long and I was left to manage alone this time.
This time… as I journeyed to The Palace to meet The Countess and hear her request of me.

Sonic and Shadow are a pair of unlikely friends that manage to perfectly contrast each other. Despite their major differences, they manage to protect each other and survive among a human-dominated world, one that is already unwelcoming enough to creatures like them. Worst of all, it begins to become impossible to tell who they could really trust, Shadow's theory of demonic possessions apparently becoming true. Any creature they meet in the streets could be a potential demon, the world turning their back on a dying God.
Attempting to stitch what remained of the world together, Shadow makes Sonic into a hybrid of demon and hedgehog, an eldritch being of incredible strength.
