Being an angel is no easy feat. Hiding gigantic black wings is difficult. Stopping himself from turning his eyes cyan blue every time he saw Dean Winchester to smite his arrogant arse where he stood was even harder. Castiel Novak was good at fitting in, but having the hottest guy at school as your dedicated stalked makes staying unseen almost impossible. Dean looks up from his beer. He hasn’t had that much to drink, but Cas still has a vague look of unreality about him, a splash of living color that doesn’t fit in the bunker’s echoing stillness. Dean didn’t hear him coming. A lot of the time, Cas is so unobtrusive it feels like Dean has the bunker to himself, with Sam away.
Dean shakes his head to clear it. “A — garden?” he repeats.

Once the Empty spat him back out like an offending watermelon seed, Cas got one or two clothing items from Dean, but he mostly wears castoffs from Sam. Wearing Dean’s clothes feels too quick, too intimate for where they are right now, whatever label-less thing they have.
He looks ridiculous, really, in Sam’s clothes.
Everything is too long, too wide, and seems to swallow Cas whole. Even Jimmy’s clothes had been too big on him, oddly, the suit and coat wearing Cas more than the other way round, but that was nothing compared to Sam’s things. He has to roll up the sleeves on all the shirts in order to use his hands, and the pants bunch up around the ankles. He looks like he’s wearing a plaid flannel tent.
And so, nearly two weeks after Chuck’s demotion, Dean can’t take it anymore.

He needs to reach the findings before something happens to them and the invaluable information is lost and they're set back months, if not years.
Castiel is restless like the dogs in their sled. He needs to come up with a plan.

This had simply never happened. Dean always checked the entire house, sometimes twice, laying sigils and protection spells and lines of salt as he went, and today was no exception. Sure, the place might have been a little strange, but it was foreclosed upon like a decade ago. So absolutely why can Dean hear someone walking around on the second floor of this abandoned house? An unchecked closet? The wind split a salt line? Some sort of undiscovered thing that was immune to all traps?

When a case go sideways, Dean desperately calls out to Cas for help. Cas immediately comes to the rescue, except he's getting sick of Dean putting his life in danger and almost dying on a regular basis. It was just a lovers spat, and yet Dean found himself in the local bar getting drunk and drowning out the fight. Cas can't stay mad for long though, and when he comes back to Dean, feelings are finally brought to light. Feelings lead to kissing; lots and lots of kissing. And maybe Dean's a little bit sappy and corny when he's this drunk, but Cas wouldn't trade this soft and tender moment for anything.
