But what if that wasn’t how it went? What if he got turned away from the heroic path before he even knew it was an option? What if Sonic became one of the villains he always swore to stop? What if…he liked it?
Or: Sonic grew up with the doctor as a father figure instead of Uncle Chuck, has only been outside outside like five times, and is using sarcasm instead of humor to mask his problems.

Summary
It happened suddenly. Sonic was there one day and was gone the next, leaving only a bloodied basement behind. The body was never found. The mystery was never solved.
One day, Tails gives Amy a dating simulator game. When Amy, Knuckles, and Shadow discovered the room full of Sonic's blood, the game's main theme song played. People describe the game's narrator as strange.
The narrator is Sonic, who was transported into the game by an unknown enemy. Sonic is not the same hero anymore. Drugs and the digital world affected him, hurting most of his relationships while enhancing his feelings for Amy, because drugs were not yet perfect and failed to reduce the brain chemistry caused by romantic love. They simply did the reverse, creating a yandere in Sonic.
Sonic has a plan how to be with Amy again. And it involves a lot... a lot of deaths.
Update: Fic renamed from 'My death won't do us apart.' New name fits way better.

It is a place upside down. Instead of their being the Heroes who are many and the Villains few, it is instead the Villains who are plentiful and the Heroes unheard of.
In such a world, True Love is a precious thing. To have tasted it is an amazing experience, but that only means that you will suffer that much more when it is inevitably taken away from you.
One Hedgehog, the Deadliest Thing Alive, had his True Love taken from him. He wants them back and is willing to do anything to make that happen.
In the normal world though, there is trouble brewing. Shadow is conflicted about how he feels and Sonic is desperate to have his feelings heard.
Sonic has a plan though, one of the best plans he's ever made, to solve their dilemma.
Will everything go well? Unlikely.

Everything is gone. Everything is burning and crashing down around him. Every life snuffed out in an instant, thanks to a miscalculation on Doctor Robotnik's new "Mind Beam". Everyone Sonic ever knew, ever met, ever loved, and everyone he hadn't, all gone. Even Shadow passed after giving the last of his life force, his chaos energy, to Sonic, in a last ditch effort to turn the tide of war. Oh, and how pointless it was, in the end.
On a burning planet, the only two living souls left were Doctor Robotnik and Sonic. One a madman, the other a hero, defeated.
With perhaps an ounce of remorse, the Doctor sends Sonic somewhere else. Somewhere he can start anew. Somewhere he'll have a second chance to save lives, even if many of them bore the faces of his lost loved ones.
