Will nods and gestures at Mike, “See! This is exactly what I’ve been saying. It’s one of my favorite movies.”
“Mine too!” Mike grins.
Will grins back, and then squints and tilts his head, “Hey, you sat next to me in Mythology this morning, right?”
“I think so? It was pretty early.”
Lucas sighs dramatically, “You’re both crazy.”
Mike notices Lucas has a coffee cup from the campus coffee store, and he internally nods his approval.
Mike and Will make eye contact, and Will winks (which he somehow actually pulls off, the bastard). The two boys then start giggling until they’re both laughing, and Lucas is looking at them in an amused fashion. The three of them chat a little more, and then it’s Mike’s stop.
“This is my stop, but I’ll see you two around!” He tells them.

Summary
Will Byers disappeared into the Upside Down for the second time during the Battle of Starcourt in 1985. Two years later, Mike Wheeler is still in denial that his best friend could be dead and pours everything he has into planning the crawls, trying to find both Vecna and any evidence of Will.
During a mission to rescue his sister from Vecna and prevent other kids from being taken, Will reappears and turns Mike's life upside down once more. -

The concept of what would happen after defeating Vecna hadn’t ever materialized in Will Byers’ head. And, now that he was living it, he kind of wished he’d been more prepared. Trying to hide his nightmares, the level of stoned he was, and his very, very new relationship with Mike Wheeler was nothing short of impossible with the wave of Religious Paranoia infecting Hawkins post-Upside-Down.
But who was he to complain? It could always be worse.

It's November 6, 1997. Exactly 14 years after William Byers' disappearance, 10 years after Vecna's, and Jane Hopper's death.
Lucas and Max Sinclair have a small house in Cleveland where they live a quiet life.
Dustin works with NASA on new satellites, occasionally plotting with Erica to annoy their coworkers.
Will is in New York, where he spends time working on new gallery exhibitions of his paintings with his partner.
Meanwhile, Michael Wheeler remains where it all began, unable to let go of regret for every decision he's made.

As a failed writer, Mike has never come to terms with the breakup of his group, the death of his girlfriend, or his sexuality. Another year passes, and he avoids the annual reunion with his old friends.

Will could think of one person who would understand. Mike.
And that's what pained him the most. Because he used to understand. Used to be the one that understood Will completely, almost reading him like a book whenever something was wrong. Always stood by his side and held his hand whenever he needed it most, comforting him on his days full of despair and fear, and listened to all his worries no matter the size, big or small. Something hit him in that moment— a terrible realization. Fuck.
He really, really missed him.

After graduating from high school, Will gets into a relationship with Chance, another graduate who happened to be extremely attractive and sweet. There was just one tiny, small problem. He wasn’t over Mike like he thought he'd been, and just when things couldn’t get any worse, he ran straight into him at a Halloween party. The same one Chance had invited him to, and from there, things blew up— heated, messy, and everything Will never imagined would happen.

With Vecna dead, the party is left to pick up the pieces. After so many losses and a town that still holds hatred in their minds, everyone just needed to heal and move on from another traumatic event. Over time, it gets easier. Harassment lessens and Hawkins slowly returns back to normal. Almost as if they were ignoring all the wrongdoings of the party. Or maybe they're just forgetting?
Blissful ignorance and familiar dark curls, is there something deeper going on?
And why doesn't anyone mention the name Eddie Munson anymore?

Byler college fic post-canon where the party goes different places and it’s centered around Will and his closest friend who is also queer and she despises Mike after hearing about Will pining for him but one day in November, Will has a worse panic attack than usual and she can’t help him and is forced to call Mike and for the first time learns Will went missing and goes home with Will to Hawkins during winter break because her family sucks and learns about the Upside Down and Mike is jealous because he thinks they’re dating and the second the friend sees Mike, she knows she’s right and that Mike is in love with Will too.
