“Quick instructions,” Xisuma continued, ignoring their obvious displeasure. “Read one question aloud to your partner. You both answer. Swap roles for the next question. When you’re done, write down your partner’s answer and your thoughts on it.”
“Wait—you actually want me to write down Pearl’s answers?”
“Or type them, carve them into stone, send a smoke signal for all I care” Xisuma said, his tone as dry as the desert itself. “As long as you both follow through.”
Pearl scowled, crossing her arms. “What if we don’t have thoughts?”
“Somehow, I think you two have too many thoughts,” Xisuma deadpanned as leveled her with a look. “And not enough self-restraint.”
Gem grinned. “He’s not wrong.”
Or: Xisuma makes them do a little psychological study to help them bond, since they are incapable of doing it themselves.

Summary
Something in Scott's eyes tightened. The vampire took another half step forward, more than ever looking like he was holding something in deep inside.
"The animals are dying," Scott spelled out. "We can't feed off of them anymore."
Avid furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, before it hit. His mouth gaped open as fear struck a chord inside him and sent shivers running down his spine.
There were no more animals. The vampires were out of food.

Avid is a vampire hunter. Scott is a vampire. Obviously both hate the other from the start. But strange things happen in the woods of Oakhurst. After unlikely circumstances bring the two closer (in more ways than one), their rivalries start to unravel.
Maybe Scott isn't such a bloodthirsty monster, and can even be pretty nice sometimes--and maybe he's hot, but that's a different topic. Maybe Avid isn't such an annoying nuisance, but someone with unexpected depths and personality (having a pretty face certainly helps).
Maybe the two who've been fated to be against each other since the beginning don't have to be enemies. Just maybe.OR
Scott + Avid are gay for each other, and Scott has trauma now (his backstory wasn't sad enough)

Welcome to 'Second Life', a death-based game. You all have been brought here to play a deathmatch based on specific merits. The rules are simple; you will each be assigned two lives. When you die, you lose one of your lives. If you kill someone else, you gain their life. For simplicity, there will be a color system. Red for one life, Yellow for two, and Green for more than that. Just before Scar goes to collect wood and Grian to work on their base in the meantime, the two of them argue. Grian points out that Scar also keeps his secrets.
