Summary
A hopeless feeling fills my soul. The impact of Batman wasn’t what I intended. Gotham is tearing itself apart. I don't know what else to try, but I know there has to be another way.
Bruce is on the verge of quitting. He visits the Monarch Theatre, the last place where he was happy before his world fell apart - hoping to find some hope, something to help drive himself forward. A sign that the Gotham Project he'd worked three years tirelessly would show some budding success...
Instead, he finds a starving child stealing from Batman.
Maybe - saving one child could be enough for him.

Summary
Robin had been behaving irrationally and becoming increasingly violent. Outside of the costume, Jason was becoming angry, rebellious, and someone that Bruce didn’t want as a son. The angry words left his mouth before he could mute himself. “I’m not your father, Jason. I don’t have time for your teenage rebellion.”
The look of shock and hurt on his son’s face would be forever in his nightmares, superimposing on top of Jason’s pale face as he held vigil by his fifteen-year-old in the ICU.

Summary
The Red Hood is known throughout Crime Alley to be the Protector of Children.
Jason Todd spots a little girl on skid row that looked like she needed his help; She was tiny, soaking wet, and wearing a dress so thin he could see her bones. She's terrified, but oh so very brave to come up to him, especially once he realizes what she escaped from. He takes her to get warmed up and invites her to share a meal - like B once did for him as a child. He hears her out and his eyes go green - enraged.
Hood had no idea that someone from his past was back and still training children, like he had been; it was no longer a home for wayward boys- but one housing little girls, then selling them to the highest bidder up to ten times a day.
Once Jason realizes the scale of what he's up against, he has no choice but to call home.

The only thing worse than crawling out of your own grave to find your father had replaced you with the first black haired, blue eyed preteen he could find, is said replacement begging you to sign emergency foster papers... except maybe you signing said papers and having to learn how to be a parent on the fly... Fuck it, he couldn't do any worse than Bruce.
