There are various ways to check if someone is immortal.
You can observe them for years to see if the progression of time carves its way into their features. Maybe cut them yourself and see if they bleed and heal in the ways as a mortal ought to. Or perhaps just ask if they're the none-secretive type.
But Xiao knows of a much more efficient way.
For the yaksha need only to look into their eyes to know the true extent of their life, a most useful if not sometimes unsettling skill.

Though the former Archon was thousands of years old, he had almost no knowledge regarding the offspring of someone like him. Sure, there were some examples of human-adeptus hybrids in history, like Ganyu and Yanfei, but Zhongli was the Prime Adeptus. And his husband was very much a human male, nothing like the women who birthed the other half-adepti. The gears in his head began to turn as he thought about all of this, trying to wrack his brain for any examples in the past that might be a suitable comparison for his current situation.
