Last thing Jupiter Jones remembered was sitting with Caine at a downtown dive bar at one in the morning...
She didn’t know what had sent her back in time, but somehow it was the morning of the fertility clinic all over again. There were things she did know: Balem wanted to kill her, Titus wanted to marry her and then kill her, and —well, actually, she wasn't exactly sure what Kalique wanted.
But if Jupiter could avoid being kidnapped or killed, (or passing out from this strange exhaustion) maybe she could convince Stinger and Caine to help her claim her title and save the Earth all over again. What would she tell them though? Would they even believe the truth? She was the only one who remembered living through this the first time around...wasn’t she? -

If only Jupiter got a critical extra three minutes of consciousness in the clinic, if only she slept for four hours rather than twelve in Caine’s hideout, if only in a somewhat humorous fashion the author could strong-arm them both into slightly better communication… and most importantly, if only the author would allow Balem to really express his inner creative streak. Then, then the author could offer crackfic with entirely too much plot, more than expected personal growth, the same expected crate of lemons (signature required at delivery), just a few trigger warnings, and a high level of satisfaction by the end.

Seraphi tries to outmaneuver Fate. She fails. Happily, so does Balem. Titus joins the crew as Fate’s happy pawn, and Kalique is left out of this one entirely, which only proves her wisdom.
This fic was intended to be the finale of Venus In Effigy, but life doesn't always work out the way we plan.
