I'm gonna be so honest, this is the first actual fanfic I've written that's not a textfic (not that those don't count, but I mean like a whole story); furthermore, I am a freshman who has never written more that 1.5k words, and even then it was nonfiction. I'm writing this with inspiration from both This Color Ain't It and Sorry About That + the sequel Safety Fou - !DANGER! and I apologize if this has similar events to those, as I've never actually watched nor read MHA, and I really like the idea of Kenji and Kaminari being friends. It WILL be angsty, and it WILL be out of character. (I'm watching MHA ep 6 as I write this with no glasses on a Monday night). Kind of fiddling with the idea of Kenji going through a certain… musical phase… involving loud, moody music…. Chapter title from The Human Paradox by Dynazty and story title is from The Hell Song by Sum 41. Also, this has been like half-finished for a month or two and I'm speed-running the first chapter because I want to get it out before 00:00.

Katsuki Bakugo returned to Japan after a 1-year internship in the United States that quickly turned into a 3-year internship, and the guilt of how he left that night still eats at him. When he returned to Japan after a serious accident with his Sensei, he vowed to take his relationships more seriously. When he shocked the hero world by declaring that he would remain unsigned to any agency, effectively "going rogue", he thought he would have more opportunities to distract himself from what was out of his reach. He never thought healing would come from protecting his childhood friend... or a class full of gremlins.
