Or they would have if an owl had not come from Hogwarts. Minerva McGonagall, made aware of one Artemis Fowl II through the Sorting Hat, sends him an invitation to attend the prestigous school as a way to bridge the gap between Muggles and Wizards. At first, Artemis views his attendance as an opportunity, for inside the crumbling castle wals he is sure to find friends, or at least classmates, that would help him righten his mental instability.
However, he finds that Hogwarts isn't as welcoming as he imagined, his fellow Slytherins especially, disgusted that a Muggle was accepted into Hogwarts. Artemis' pit of despair grows deeper, the school's enraged students digging his grave for him.
And yet… Maybe, just maybe, he'll get a happy ending with the people who dug him out.
