Alastor wipes the sweat from his brow and sits back on his heels. That should be enough. He carefully sets the brush down. Ensuring it’s a sufficient distance away so what remains on its bristles doesn't muss up his work and reaches for the book.
He opens the book and double checks his work. Comparing the symbols he’s made and seeing if any of them need correcting. He’s interrupted by a quiet groan behind him. Alastor sighs, of course.
He turns around and glares at him. That’s all the victim needs to stifle his pained groans. With that settled Alastor turns back to the task at hand. He’ll be dead soon anyway with the amount of blood he’s lost. The book said a fresh source would suit his needs best. Recommended but not required. Alastor will take all the help he can get.
He has a feeling he’s going to need it. This is the most complicated ritual he’s done yet.
