Sound was warping in Noctis’ ears. An alarm was blaring, but it faded in and out of the background, ebbing and flowing like the ocean tide. Footsteps pounded outside the tiny cell, yelling, screaming. Was there screaming? Or was it the alarm? The sound of gun shots. More yelling.
The door to the cell banged open.
”Over here! I found him!” Footsteps. “Noct! Noct! Oh gods, please don’t be dead.”
Noctis tried to move, but his body had failed him long ago. At this point, he was just waiting for death to come.
There were fingers on his wrist. A huge breath of air.
”Oh thank the Astrals. He’s alive.”
More running footsteps.
”Is he -?”
”Still alive.”
More sighs of relief.
”Who is that?”
”I have no idea.”

It’s a great idea, in theory. They’re given either less than a day, or however long they choose to stay in the past. They’d be given time to say goodbye properly for once.

Summary
Prompto had gotten to the Crystal just as it finished swallowing Noctis. In a single moment, he ran at the Crystal and ended up being taken by it as well.
Within that magical space he found Noctis, but also Bahamut. Surprisingly, the Astral wasn't angry at Prompto, but instead granted him a gift for his efforts.
Now, Prompto is back out of the Crystal with a large pair of feathery wings on his back, and he has no idea how to use them.

Gentiana opens her mouth to speak, and Luna gasps awake in the car, the seatbelt tightening around her chest as she jerks forward. The driver doesn't notice, fiddling with the dials of the air conditioning as the vehicle keeps steady with the traffic entering Insomnia-
