The wolf school Witchers are forced to parent him as the new witcher struggles to find his place among friends, family, and others - he explores what it means to be a witcher, to be a monster, and more importantly to be himself.
Cas doesn't know why he's here, only that he is. And no one will ever forget that he was. A story of danger, violence, lost love and little moments. A warm fire, a squeaky hinge, the rumble of the Nilfgaardian cavalry.A vampire with a smile like sunshine, a witcher with a scowl as cold as winter.

"A noisy monster," Ciri whispers. Her cat-like eyes wide, fingers curled like a wyvern's claw about to seize its prey.
"With green eyes, and gummy teeth." She carries on. Her lips twitch with a smirk when the 'monster' across from her tilts its head in recognition.
"But I have' green eyes?" The girl grumbles, unimpressed. "I have teeth. Three." She holds up her stubby fingers with a frown.

“Geralt,” the boy repeated, perfectly at ease. “You look like you’ve swallowed a fly.”
The bard coughed, quite unable to think of anything more coherent. Geralt. The name burned in his ears. The same set to the mouth, the same stubborn brow — only softened by youth and laughter and sunlight.
It was impossible. Entirely, catastrophically impossible.

Geralt’s shoulders were stiff, and his grip on Jaskier’s wrist was like a vise. Between them, the bite mark on Jaskier’s forearm still oozed blood. Just a tiny little puncture. He’d gotten worse from stepping on a sharp rock in camp just last week. The dead fox lay three paces off, its head facing away. From this angle Jaskier couldn’t see whether or not he’d imagined the foam at its mouth.
Geralt still wouldn’t look at him.
“Don’t say it,” Jaskier begged one last time.
“It was rabid,” said Geralt flatly.

At long last, Jaskier's luck runs out, and he acquires a mortal wound. It's lucky for him, then, that Geralt is far too selfish to let him die.

Elle façonne des êtres plus forts que le monde. Cette force ne vient pas que des mutations, mais aussi de ce que l'esprit apprend par cette éducation difficile, de sorte à ce que le sorceleur ne soit pas qu'un tueur, mais aussi un savant.

Summary
In Geralt's life, more often than not, touch meant pain. From being held down during the trials, to blows exchanged during fights, every unpleasant touch of skin against skin was only amplified by his enhanced senses.
The only people who he trusted to respect his boundaries, whose touch brought comfort instead of pain, were Eskel, Lambert, and Vesemir. He only saw them during winter, but that was fine. He could go nine months of the year without friendly touch; he'd been doing it for decades. It was better this way, better for everyone.
The bard that started following him around might disagree.
