“Have a nervous breakdown? Fine. Drive us back.”

Adam rolls her eyes and shoves the bike forward, her loafers finding the pedals with practiced comfort, Ronan’s hands finding her ribs with the same ease. Warm breath on Adam’s ear, Ronan’s mouth is macerated fruit and Adam sees it in dreams. One finger curled over the handle-break. Bruised knees beaming to the sky under skirt, before sock. They skim downhill, towards the street, Adam’s hair whipping behind her, Ronan’s breath giving chase against her spine.
The last few feet, Adam loosens her grip on the brake. They coast, catching speed. Ronan curses, exhilarated. Adam lets out a shaky breath through a shakier smile. Two by two, they pedal towards Monmouth, their great and Ganseyish ark.

The non-committal sound Kevin makes next is immensely self-satisfied. “Are you taking pity on me, Andrew?” He asks, with the kind of faux deferentiality that makes Andrew wonder why this kind of behavior has gone through Kevin’s entire life unchecked. “Are you actually taking pity on me?”

Most people went through life without finding a calling, without a modicum of the talent Andrew had and still found ways to live normal, fulfilling lives.
Exy- and the comfortable life it offered- should have been enough to tempt and satisfy any rational person.
And maybe that was his first mistake- believing that Andrew was a rational person.

“Coach,” Neil starts, parsing the words in his head to digest them into something more believable.
Fortunately, before Neil further makes himself sound insane in front of his father-in-law, the door to Coach Wymack’s office swings open, revealing Andrew with a small child tangled in his legs. Andrew is as blank-faced as always, but the child peers at the room warily, his eyes big and green.
Even without words to introduce him, they all know who this is. Coach Wymack audibly sucks in a breath.
Alternatively, when the adult Kevin Day regresses in time to his six-year-old self, the Palmetto State Foxes are forced into a state of disarray. It is as the saying goes: it takes a village to raise a child.

Detective Kawamaru set the handcuffs on the desk with a deep thump, a clear message that she was prepared to use them again if needed. “I understand the strain you are under, Dynamight,” she said, puzzling Kaminari even further. “But since you were the one to arrest the suspect, I’m going to need a statement from both of you.”
Bakugou glared at the detective, waiting for her to back down like any sane person would.
“It won’t take long,” Kawamaru said firmly. “You can leave once you’ve answered just a few of my questions and we’ve assigned you a monitor for the next twelve hours.”
“Wait, what?” Kaminari asked, head whipping to look at her. “A monitor? For twelve hours? Why?”
“Because that’s how long the suspect’s quirk generally lasts,” Kawamaru answered shortly.
“But he wasn’t hit with her…”
Kaminari’s voice faltered as he finally took a good, long look at his friend.
