He pushed the door open wider, the faint scent of stale air mingling with something more pungent. Harry's heart raced, not out of fear but exhilaration. The thrill of freedom surged through him, intoxicating as he padded toward the kitchen, his bare feet silent on the cold tiles.
“Aunt Petunia? Dudley?” he called, his voice playful, almost sing-song. The house felt hollow, as if it, too, sensed the absence of its tyrant. He found them in the living room, Dudley sprawled on the couch, eyes glued to the screen, blissfully unaware. His aunt was by his side on her favorite floral couch, working on another piece of her boring yarn work. It was for her weekly club- the one she attended with the other housewives.
“Aunt Petunia?” He stepped closer, his smile widening. “I have something to share. It’s about Uncle Vernon. You’ll be so proud of me!" His voice carried a tone she had never heard before, before she could even reply, he broke into a fit of giggles.
