Summary
Mike Wheeler has the perfect small town Indiana life. He’s a sweet(?) boy going into the ninth grade, with a beautiful mom, working dad, annoying little sister, and an even more annoying big sister. Eddie Munson let him into the Hellfire Club, and there hasn’t even been a single demon attacking town in months!
Problem, though: Mike can’t eat. Or, rather: Mike isn't eating. And he's trying not to tell anyone that. The unfortunate thing is, people love him -- which means people notice.

Lorraine Seymour never asked to move to Hawkins, Indiana, but her dad didn’t exactly take a vote.
Being a former nerd turned hot cheerleader sounds like the setup to a teen movie—if you ignore the feeling that all her relationships are shallow, her grades are slipping and she cannot for the love of God stop thinking about Nancy Wheeler, the girl who has been driving her crazy academically and emotionally for years. Also, the methods she'd found for “disconnecting” from all that shit are actually kind of questionable, especially when they leave her stuck around people she couldn't care less about.
Then two kids disappear, Lorraine sees something straight out of a Stephen King book and Hawkins practically flips upside down, and she somehow gets pulled closer to the girl she’s been loathing, competing with, and maybe, inconveniently, longing for.
Being on the verge of death makes you rethink several things—if not your entire life—, so when you believe nobody would want to attend your funeral, maybe it's time to become someone worth fighting for—and someone finally brave enough to admit what she feels.

Steve hated these days because they were so boring. So, he took to flipping through the magazines Robin had brought in that she said she took from her mom. They were mostly parenting or woman magazines so it wasn't that big of a surprise when he came across it.
The text read: ‘Reborn Dolls! Get your own life-like baby doll!’
or Steve gets his own Reborn Doll as a way of therapy.

Steve doesn’t feel right. He doesn’t know what it is, but it’s not the flu or a cold. If it’s something serious, he’s gonna pretend it’s not. If it’s something Upside Down related, he’s probably gonna die, so it is what it is.
He just feels so warm on the inside, almost feverish, but his skin is fine. A little dry, maybe. Kinda cracked like it’s the middle of winter and he ran out of lotion. And he swears that he’s grown an inch. Maybe more. His pants are hitting above his ankle where they used to be just below.
Maybe it’s just heartburn. He did eat that taco with extra hot sauce last night, and bodies are weird or whatever.

Eddie looks to him, he can feel his burning stare. He keeps his gaze astute on the ceiling. There's something in him that melts with Eddie's molten eyes—he'd let the change happen at a moment's notice. Not now, though. And definitely not yet. "You guys are on two different worlds," Eddie states softly, "she isn't yours to keep. And I'm sure she doesn't want to be kept, not now at least." He bumps his hand on Steve's thigh, the contact burns, but Steve doesn't shy from it. Instead, he lolls his head and looks over.
One day, his brain won't be set on Nancy.
Maybe it'll be somebody else.
