A series of one-shot adventures for the Mando and his yoda-ling that we all love so well! "...what?" Arthur asked blearily as the boy set down his food. Merlin didn't even pause as he went to the dresser and tossed some more clothes out of the cabinet. "You... You have an apprentice?" He repeated and squinted. "Why?"
"Oh, you know," Merlin shrugged, tossing a tunic on the bed "In case I die or something." He said. The boy blinked before glancing over at Merlin with pursed lips.
"You're not dying, are you?" He asked and Arthur had to shake his head to try and keep up with the conversation.
"I don't think so... But you can never be certain." Merlin told him with an air of stoicism. Arthur scowled. Honestly. This was ridiculous. Clearly, this was his servant's newest attempt to get out of work (or at least work less).
"Merlin, you're not getting an apprentice." Arthur told him. Merlin stopped to look at the king.
"I am. I have. He's right there. Say hi, Daegal."
"Hi!"
Or
Daegal lives. Merlin takes him on as an apprentice. Arthur isn't sure what's going on. Mordred is also mad for some reason.

Summary
In the midst of capturing a magical creature, Merlin is transported to a world where Camelot is home to thousands of magic-users. King Uther is nowhere to be found, Arthur is a prince again, and Queen Ygraine sits on the throne.
Merlin plans to get back to his own reality, to his own Camelot. To do that, however, he must have access to information that is inside a shielded castle protected by powerful sorcerers. The only way in is to participate in the Apprentice Exam and be an apprentice to a magic-user included in Camelot's court. Should be easy . . . right?
Conspiracies are afoot and Merlin just knows that, somehow, he is or will be involved. Just his luck.

Questions were not so much encouraged at Kaer Morhen. And for a lot of his life he'd always figured that is how you train a boy or an animal: hit it when it doesn't do what you want. After all, that was how he ended up as good at monster slaying as he was. But when it actually came down to it, that wasn't how he trained Roach. And negative reinforcement implies, at least etymologically, the existence of an opposite.
