Dean and Castiel have been together for nearly two years at this point, and for that entire time, things have been… interesting, but Castiel bringing Dean with him on a business trip and using it as a frame for doing a whole elaborate role-playing scenario is new.
They have already dabbled in it a little. Along with the gifts and flowers, Castiel is the one paying for his clothes, his car and his general upkeep. They don’t usually lean into it, but it does add an edge to their predilection for power play; adding a dynamic of Castiel paying for Dean’s lifestyle, and Dean in turn providing Castiel with a good time.
Tonight they’re leaning all the way in.

The constant moving around and general lack of real connections were never great. But being stranded in Lawrence, forced to stay in place until his dad comes for him, is worse. Especially once someone starts hunting him.
Going to the police is in every conceivable way a terrible plan. Accepting personal help from a severely overinvolved cop is quite possibly an even worse one. Above all because Dean is up to his neck in illicit activities and police-related trauma. But maybe, just once, it would be nice to have someone look out for him.
