“Can you stand, Alex?” He can’t answer, and Henry pats his cheek a few times, trying to get him to focus. “Alex, I need to know if we can move off to the side.”
Alex tries, okay, he does. But when he moves his foot the slightest inch, it sends a wave of pain so strong through his body that his vision whites out. “Nope,” Alex answers. “New permanent shape. Shrimp-lex.”
Henry digs his phone out of his pocket, and even though he looks worried, amusement flashes across his face, and he opens his mouth. Alex realizes exactly what’s about to happen as he says, “Finally admitting you’re short, I see. All it took was an apparent traumatic health scare.”
“Traumatic health scare that I’m still experiencing by the fucking way.”
“You’re speaking very eloquently for someone supposedly in significant pain.” Henry notes.
