Summary
Will gives Hopper an unreadable look. If he wasn't Will Byers, he would totally just shrug Hopper off and go to find Mike but the problem with that was he was Will Byers and Will Byers doesn't shrug his step-dad off.
"I know what to say to him. It's fine. I'll be back before the ceremony starts," Will replies, rushing out the door before anyone has a chance to disagree.

Summary
For a moment, Mike considers it. He considers door three. A life in New York with Will. Going to NYU together. Living in a shitty apartment, watching the other boy paint while he worked on his novel. Brainstorming campaign ideas for when the Party finally visits. Waking up to scrambled eggs on the stove, slightly too rubbery because Will never quite learned how to cook them perfectly.
Mike considers it, but more importantly, he wants it. He looks up from the floor and stares at Will. Will stares back. His eyes, still green with tears, shine. Hopeful. Like when they were kids. When their basement dream still made sense. Mike realizes it then: Will is reaching out. He wants this – whatever this is – just as much as Mike does. That's the scariest part, Mike thinks.
Mike's never been all that brave.

It’s been 18 months. 18 Long months of moving away, finally going to the college of his dreams, and pointedly not talking to Steve Harrington about the most terrifying week of their lives.

Summary
It's 2006, and Will is living in Chicago with his boyfriend, Robbie. Robbie invites the party over for Will's 35th birthday, unaware of how their lives would unravel when Will and Mike reunite.
Heavily inspired by my favorite song "I'd Have To Think About It" by Leith Ross:
"And if you come to me
When I've promised to commit
If you told me that you loved me
And asked me for a kiss
Well, I'd at least have to think about itYou are my Achilles' heel
The weakness only I can feel
I've been a liar and you've been a pill
But I'd still have to think about it"- Language:

Summary
Will trembles slightly.
“I’m here,” Mike repeats, over and over, pressing his cheek into Will’s hair. “I’ve got you. You’re okay.”
Will’s breath stutters against Mike’s neck. His arms tighten, like he’s afraid Mike might vanish if he loosens his grip even a little.
“It was-” Will stutters. “She was—”
“I know,” Mike says quickly. “You don’t have to say it.”

After everything Hawkins took from them, sleep still doesn’t come easy. Will and Mike are having a sleepover in the Wheeleer basement, ike the good old days. But when a nightmare consumes Will, Mike is there to pull him out. However, neither of them expected it would end with them sleeping on the same surface.

Summary
For the first time in four years, Will Byers is free. The grip the upside-down had on him has been relinquished, and he and his friends can live out the few months of childhood they have left.
But nothing is quite right: Lucas is but a shell of a person, Dustin has forgotten his girlfriend of two years, and Mike? Mike Wheeler, the heart of the group, has been a ghost of who he was for a long, long time.
And it's not just his old party: Robin, Jonathan, Hopper, Nancy, even his Mom, the same woman who would not rest till she found the truth all those years ago, glaze over their final battle like it was nothing.
A final fight that was too easy, a flickering reality of a town, a heart withering and rotting with grief in his basement. Just like that, Will begins to question just who won that last fight and how exactly he helped Vecna one last time.

Summary
The biggest lesson she had learned at Smith was the same that she had learned in Hawkins: you didn’t need to be afraid of things that were unknown. She didn’t need to accept the status quo. She was allowed to be who she was. She could be afraid and not have it control her.
And she could fail spectacularly at it.
Or: There’s a letter that Robin didn’t send to Steve during her first year at Smith. There’s a phone call she makes during her second.

Summary
"The Paladin stands at the edge of the map, his sword heavy, his quest complete. But what happens when the Great Evil is slain, and the hero still feels like he’s losing?"
One year has passed since the fall of Vecna. One year since Eleven’s sacrifice. Mike has done everything he was supposed to do: he mourned, he healed, and he finally turned the page. By all accounts, he should be moving on.
But as the dust settles, Mike realizes that "victory" feels hollow. He isn't happy, and he doesn't know why ; until Will starts moving on, too. Watching his best friend fall for someone else sparks a realization that no D&D manual could have prepared him for.
Mike is about to learn that defeating a dark wizard was the easy part ; the real battle is realizing there isn't just one way out of the closet.

Summary
Five years after the battle that changed Hawkins forever, the world believes that horror belongs to the past.
Will Byers, on the other hand, never stopped feeling it.
Settled in Paris for several years, he tried to rebuild himself away from a city that broke him. His days are devoted to art. His nights, to nightmares too precise to be simple memories. Whispers persist. Visions are necessary. And something, in the shadows, refuses to let him go.
When his mother asks him to come back to Hawkins for the holidays, Will knows that this return will not be trivial. To return is to face the places he fled, the ties he left behind him... and Mike Wheeler, his former best friend, who became a stranger.
But Hawkins is not as sleepy as she claims.
As unexplained phenomena resurface and the boundaries between the worlds seem to waver, Will understands that the past has never really been buried. That the battle they thought was over was perhaps only a prelude. And that his link with horror is far from disappearing.
Sometimes the danger does not strike from the outside.
Sometimes he waits, lurking deep inside us.

Summary
Mike Wheeler stayed in Hawkins and became a writer. Will Byers left and became a reader.
Now almost thirty, Mike is trapped by the final book of his wildly popular fantasy series—one inspired by childhood adventures he insists are long behind him. The problem is a character who won’t disappear, a love he never planned to write, and an ending that feels impossible.
As Will begins to recognize himself between the pages, both of them must confront the same question:
What happens when the story you never finished starts writing back?
