When they reunited after being apart in the dead of night it appeared in the form of an index finger pressed to a shoulder and a quiet, happy ‘boop’ uttered that Cleo swore she wasn’t supposed to hear. When something awful happened the emotionless four letters that came over the screen of the communicators suddenly seemed to have an awful lot more behind them. She could read the word and instinctively sense the panic and the fear, even if she couldn’t decode the message beyond that.

Wait waitvwait WAIT how is the Little Palace Mistress my favorite character in this?????? Ch15 especially, like oh my God, I'm struck dumb. She's so herself without any real changes from her canon personality traits but she has her own agency and she's a fully 3d fleshed-out person that I can actually really sympathize with and want to succeed??? What is this sorcery. And I like her?? She's just awesome amd I adore her. This is the best handling of her character I've ever seen in fic.
Ch20 SPLENDID, WOW, so much emotional release after all the tension that was building up chapter after chapter. Despite the masterful writing up to this point I had SO LITTLE FAITH in a happy ending for these two, especially once I saw the chapter count. I really thought we might be getting a bad/sad ending. But just like in SVSSS, the climax gets all the emotions out so effectively that it almost leaves you wrong-footed, like is it allowed to happen that fast??
