“Yeah! I’ll be out in a second!” There’s a sigh and then the sound of the car door opening, and Will stands to take his bowl into the sink.
“I’ll see you at school, okay?”
Mike hums. He goes to walk away, but then he’s turning around like he’s forgotten something. Will opens his mouth to ask, but then Mike’s lips are on his and his brain completely short circuits. It’s the slightest touch, the barest hints of pressure, but it’s enough for Will to know that he’s not imagining it. His head screams at him to do something, to do anything-
And then Mike just stands up straight and walks away. Will turns to the window and watches as he climbs into the front seat of his dad’s car. The engine rumbles and then they’re gone, and Will just stands there dumbfounded as he slowly lifts a hand to his lips.
“What the fuck was that?”
