Caring ech tiehr outhas got Dirk's number for sure, which makes sense of course, but reading him switch out like that and start mimicking the way Dirk talks, basically tearing him to shreds in the process, was just awful in such a RIVETING way. Bro keeps revealing more and more of himself and it's honest to god so satisfying and exhilarating getting to know him like this! Everything was just so spot-on, you have such a great handle on these characters in a way that makes me proper jells, and I'm loving every second. Not sure if I've already mentioned how much I love the affection between Dirk and Dave but I love it, I love them. They are so sweet with one another's feelings and such a great comfort to each other. 💕

However it seems that their fighting days aren't over as the Condesce keeps sending drones and imps keep appearing! So they form a secret group that will try their hardest to keep Earth safe!
But the Condesce is coming and their friends and family become more and more suspicious, oh how their lives are soo complicated!

Too depressin’ or something like that, or is that just Dirk complainin’ because he’s lame as hell?” Though his tone is dull, Bro doesn’t want Dave to believe he’s fully disinterested in the conversation. Quiet strums of the guitar he’s been slowly learning to play over the past year and a half keeping the kitchen from silence, despite the other being at a loss for words for once in his life.
“Cat got yer tongue?” Bro asks with a quiet laugh, trying to initiate conversation again so that he doesn’t feel weird for being here. Especially knowing that Dave hasn’t been terribly comfortable around him, not after all he did to prepare the now 19-year-old for SBURB.
Silence cloaks the room as Bro halts playing, setting the guitar in his lap and just breathing for a few moments. “I’m really sorry ‘bout what I did… Before the game ‘n all. It wasn’t right, not by a long shot.” Toying with the strings for a few moments before he shifts and sets the guitar on the tiled floor.
Dave jumps a little, unsure of what is about to happen and feeling more on edge despite the apology. Rose had told him over and over he didn’t have to ever think about his bro again. That it might have even been better if he just let him go and moved out, to go off and be his own person away from the man who had at least somewhat raised him. But he felt he owed him a second chance. An opportunity to be a less shitty person and maybe build up a bond between them and let the trauma lessen. Maybe it was wishful thinking that he’d be able to get over the irrational fears and trust him again. But that wasn’t for a lack of trying in that moment. He wanted to try and fix things, and with Lil Cal gone, sure it was easier . But it didn’t erase the years of abuse and neglect. There was still a feeling of anxiety that he’d be attacked at any moment, or that basic things would suddenly be dangerous.

Well, not the first part. Having Christmas at your old apartment with Bro was actually one of the best decisions you’d ever made. Bro loved John and the fact that he could bake like a professional, so the three of you, wearing ugly Christmas sweaters, ate and drank and laughed yourselves silly.
John said that you would have to do this thing more often, being that Bro didn’t live that far away, and you had to agree. It was nice, coming back here, laughing it up. It felt like the family was complete, in a sappy sort of way.
