Paris, 2060. L'Europe est tombée sous le joug de la Fraternité eurasiatique, super-Etat dont la doctrine d'"Unité humaine" consiste à faire disparaître l'Histoire et la culture pour unifier les peuples. Depuis deux ans, les Orbes Pourpres, des drones tueurs de la Fraternité, sillonnent les rues de l'ancienne capitale en abattant à vue quiconque ose s'y déplacer. Les rares survivants se sont réfugiés dans les tunnels de métros, les égouts et les Catacombes, un labyrinthe de galeries qui est désormais leur prison.
Lorsque l'un de ces groupes de survivants comprend qu'aucun secours ne viendra de l'extérieur de Paris, ils décident de tout tenter pour fuir la ville. Mais, dans leur évasion, c'est autant leur passé que leur présent qu'ils devront affronter. Car, si certains d'entre eux s'étaient opposés à la Fraternité, d'autres ont au contraire activement soutenu son avènement. Sauront-ils affronter leurs dissensions en même temps que les Orbes ? Et l'ordinateur Omnys, l'intelligence artificielle à la tête des drones, les laissera-t-il seulement filer entre ses griffes ? Rien n'est moins sûr...

How had it been buried there? Who’s had it been? He sensed power pulsing. Curious. His mind wandered back to the blood and smoke of that final battle, the day the Dark Lord rose and conquered... the day hope died. The day many good men, women, and child soldiers fell... that Harry Potter was frozen within Amber... when Granger vanished. Most believed she was dead, but years later, Draco somehow knew she was alive and kicking somewhere. He’d keep orders current for her capture, to be brought directly to him.
