I’m a barista and have been since I got out of school 3 years ago. I'm in crippling debt from a degree that is apparently utterly useless at getting me a job in my desired field.
I’ve never enjoyed living, I wake up, go to work, come home, and read late into the night, fall asleep and repeat. Fitting in meals right before I feel like I'm really going to faint. I don’t like my reality, it is cruel, and mean, life is monotonous and my only reprieve are the books I devour that give me a glimpse of what life is supposed to be like. Not the society that exists around me. With selfish humans who never looked past their own fleeting struggles to help others. I always thought I’d be dead by now, life has no meaning to me, no one would miss me if I disappeared. And yet here I am, always going back on my words to myself.
Then a cirus comes to town, and i'm drawn to them in a way i can't explain. Everything about them feels familer. I feel like i know them understand them. And why do they look at me like they all might know and want me too.
