It was just another early shift. One he, in all honesty, hasn’t been looking forward to.
To be fair though, he didn’t think anyone in their right mind would want to wake up at 4am on a Sunday- let alone work on one. Wasn’t it supposed to be a day of rest or something?
It wasn’t fair that he had to come in just so people could get some shopping done.
Not fair at all. But the world didn’t run on fairness. It ran on money and convenience, at least that’s what Phil thinks. He can’t help but think it’s run more on his personal pain and suffering but nuance never served him much good when working in customer service.

A younger Tommy had once asked Tubbo why the dragons were bad, because no grown-up would give him a straight answer.
“It’s like this boss man; dragons kill us so we kill them back. It’s just an age-old war against species, but dragons are animals, so they don’t know what war is,” an eight-year-old had Tubbo explained, but that still didn’t give an answer to Tommy’s question.
Why were the dragons bad? What had started the war? Was it men afraid of beasts with more power than them, or did dragons simply hurt everything they saw as an act of vengeance against the world. Tommy knew what that was like.

When he learned what the look in Techno's eyes meant when his older brother had pulled his sword free and cut down the commoner who had tried to touch Tommy's arm on one of their travels.
When he understood that all the songs Wilbur created were about wars and violence, victory and death. A song sung with a cheery tone after Techno and their father returned from a battle they hadn't needed to be a part of.
Twelve years old when Tommy saw his father rip a thief apart before the man could even defend himself. When the thief had only stolen a half eaten loaf of bread that Tommy didn't even want anymore.
Tommy was thirteen when he discovered that what his family enjoyed was wrong.
