my notes — “pre-Jackson’s death you could tell that NJ had hesitations of some sort abt finally taking the leap with JK, stemming from simply being nervous, perhaps breaking the friend group up (as seen with yoonmin), internalized homophobia, being scared of homophobia (as seen with jimins incident). however post-Jackson’s death really shifted the idea of Namkook in many ways. not only did Jackson’s accident and death literally stop NJ from confessing but on NJ’s end, added another internal obstacle which is guilt. this is why NJ feels like he can never truly allow himself happiness w JK, even before ever getting together with yoonji. being with JK brings guilt bc the idea of being with JK is what killed Jackson to begin with by proxy. NJ probs doesn’t think he deserves happiness with the love of his life when that was what took someone else’s boyfriend one away. Much to think about.”

Namjoon looks up, fully agreeing but unsure where this conversation is heading.
“You’re so fucking stupid and I’m honestly a little impressed that your stupidity seems to seriously know no bounds. I can’t believe you.”
Namjoon stutters, unable to reply.
“I can’t believe you’d do this to me, do this to us, because you think I’m too good for you. You’ve never been more fucking wrong in your entire life.”
Namjoon doesn’t even get a chance to defend himself. Jungkook just steamrolls past him, resembling Yoongi more and more with the growing ferocity in his voice.
“What good would any of that be if I didn’t get to do it with you? You’re the one who’s been there since day one, the one who always encouraged and pushed me to chase my dreams. Hyung, it’s always been you,” Jungkook says, pushing his hair back frustratedly with one hand.”

“Don’t,” he cut in, panicking. “Don’t do that. Please don’t do that. I can’t breathe thinking you’ll go.”
Namjoon’s eyes were large, sincere – but sympathetic too. “In that case… I need you to know that I don’t care anymore. Okay? I don’t care about all the things we’ve been angry about for years. I don’t care about the arguments about jobs, parents, other fuck-ups… We have so many fuck-ups. We could build a shrine to them at this point, alright? But I don’t care because I’ve forgiven us. You and me both. I’ve forgiven us.” Namjoon took in a deep breath. “But if you haven’t forgiven me? If you’re still punishing me or mad at me for what I did back then, then you need to let me know right now.”

He opened and closed his mouth once, twice, before a squeak pushed past his lips. “Kenma, do we… ya know? Should we…”
Kenma’s eyes once again narrowed on the cafe behind Daichi, who forced himself to not turn around to gawk openly at whatever it was that had Kenma’s attention. Before he could make any move to turn around, Kenma’s small hands were on his arms, pulling him back to the counter, his cat-like eyes glowing golden in the warm light.
“No, I don’t think we should. I want to see what happens.”

““How long do you think they’ve been together?” Seokjin asks out of the blue one evening. Their restaurant of the night is a pizza joint in Itaewon that Seokjin claims is ‘authentic New York pizza’. Neither of them really know what authentic New York pizza tastes like cause neither of them went to New York, but Seokjin says they put macaroni on their pizza slices, which according to him is about as American as you can get.
“Who?” Yoongi says around his ridiculously large slice of macaroni pizza.
“Baby and Yeobo.”
“Hmm.” Yoongi thinks as he chews. The extra carbs are siphoning some of his brainpower along with the visuals of Seokjin in front of him licking the pizza grease off his plump bottom lip. “I’d say two months.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah. You know, like when you’re in those early stages of the relationship and you just can’t keep your hands off of each other.”
“I don’t, actually.”
Yoongi looks at Seokjin with a raised eyebrow. “You never were like that with your boyfriends?”
“I mean,” Seokjin admits with a shrug of his shoulders. He takes another bite and licks the cheese off his lip. Yoongi discreetly slides Seokjin the napkin dispenser before he seriously loses his shit. “We fucked a lot, yeah. But it wasn’t like the way Baby and Yeobo do it. Like...they’re gross and annoying, but they’re also gross and annoying in love. Not even a two-months kind of love.”
“You’re saying they’ve been together long?”
“High school. Definitely.”
“Shit. I can’t even remember my high school boyfriend.””

“They stopped to grab some frozen yogurt on the way back, and Yoongi wants to talk about how fucked up his own bowels are going to be when this spicy hot and frozen sweet mess in his stomach has the time to fully digest, but he has talked about taking a shit way too much for one night and would very much like to never discuss taking a shit for the rest of his life to come, thank you very much.
“I guess I’ll see you around, Yoongi-yah,” Seokjin says. He salutes Yoongi goodbye with his tiny pink yogurt spoon and then uses that spoon to quickly steal one last bite of Yoongi’s frozen yogurt. He’s been doing that the entire walk back home. Yoongi didn’t have it in him to stop him.
“I’ll see you around too,” Yoongi says, remaining cool and calm and not thinking about shit, literal or metaphorical. He would take a swipe at Seokjin’s frozen yogurt, but Seokjin’s frozen yogurt concoction is a sugary nightmare of gummy bears, crushed cookie crumble topping, honey and chocolate, and other things that would keep Yoongi up until the witching hour.
So, he just waves his little pink spoon in goodbye, and Seokjin waves his spoon goodbye, and they both wave their spoons goodbye like two awkward grown men would do when neither wants to be the first to really say goodbye. They keep waving them as they inch little by little back into their respective apartments until the last thing Yoongi sees before he disappears inside is Seokjin waving his spoon from out of the door crack.”

It should scare Yoongi how quickly his blood begins to boil. It does not. It has been a long time since Yoongi has fallen in with his friends, an even longer time since he decided they were worth sticking beside. It was not an easy decision for someone like Yoongi to make, one he would not make for others. But with Seokjin, Yoongi does not have to think twice before taking off his gloves to face winter for him.

wow...this fic was so breathtakingly pretty. i loved the ongoing motif of seasons, esp to show time passing, setting and surroundings changes (i think to that tree they sat under and how yoongi wonders how it would look like during summer — makes me think yoonjin would eventually return to that tree when summer comes and yoongi will get to see what it looks like!) , ever-changing moods, loneliness, warmth, gaining and losing love.
i really love the way yoonjin eventually came together, they’re a quiet-type of shy love. i think back to their early convo where jin, a year into his own relationship (that would eventually span another 5 years !!!), comforts yoongi and uses his own parents not meeting til they were in their 30s as an example — not only does it remind me of the real life yoonjin comforting convos they share but i ADORE the way it all came back around when they’re both in their 30s, jin with an unexpected breakup and yoongi returning the favor of comforting him this time. it’s a situation both of them never saw coming for sure and that’s what makes it hit a little harder for me while reading. funny how the universe works! what makes this fic really special is that if not for the relationship tag and maaaybe that early yoonjin convo, you almost wouldn’t be able to tell which relationship endgame it was gonna be until you near the end. and yet at the same time it feels so natural the way they eventually drift closer together. it’s all very /them/ 🥺 they are so so sweet. this line:
“If the members were here, Yoongi is certain they would be making fun of Seokjin by now. But despite his silly acts, Seokjin is a person, too. With a heart, with needs that go beyond playful chatter. In the middle of a cold winter, company makes all the difference.” — ohhhh my poor heart. they always know what each other needs.
lastly i wanted to say congratulations on this being your first bts fic on here!!! i loved how you wrote ot7’s dynamic and domestic lives together! a lot of fics will pair other members w each other but it’s remarkable the way the ot7 is so so strong even when every member has their own love lives outside the 7 of them. although i personally struggle to perceive joons wife being anybody but myself, i will gracefully concede bc joon’s super intimate wedding ceremony truly made me smile. yoongi’s “sister-in-law’s living room” — PLS. don’t make me cry. and this line:
“Relationships change, dividing and growing in opposite directions like branches in spring. Yoongi has known someday, he and his six friends would outgrow each other. Being an idol is a tiring job, being an idol in his thirties an entirely different type of hassle. Families divide through marriages and births, forming more solid lines between ‘theirs’ and ‘mine’.

Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.

There is no clear moment, not really, but there is one that sticks out in his mind, when he knew with a sickening sort of thud inside him, a punch to the jaw in an anything goes bare-fist fight, no chance to hide his weak spots in the aftermath.
“No.” Suguru says, enunciating carefully, as though his lack of diction is the issue.
“But Suguru,” Satoru whines, heavy on the last syllable, and Suguru can feel Shoko shift beside him.
“Why do you say his name like that?” She snips before Satoru can continue with his impassioned plea or Suguru can try to intercede, cut him off. “Just say it normal, be normal.” She kicks out and misses Satoru, standing at the edge of the bed, and hits Suguru, who grunts in response. “Oops.”
Suguru waves it off.
“When is he ever normal?” He asks, rolling his eyes at her. Shoko snorts out a laugh, her leg resting over Suguru’s shin, a comforting warmth.
“So true.” Shoko responds, flicking open her phone.
“I’m literally right here.” Satoru practically shouts, tossing his sunglasses haphazardly onto Suguru’s bedside table, “terrible friendship, terrible friends,” and Suguru closes his eyes because he knows what is coming next, “Suguru,” Satoru whines again.
